`Hamish’

  Lisa Empson

Finding myself with a bit of time on my hands one Christmas holiday I found a photograph of a Highland Cow in one of my books.  I liked his `whatever’ expression and wondered whether I could replicate it.  I wouldn’t normally paint from someone else’s photograph, but was using it just for practise; I never imagined it would turn out to be a painting that many people enjoy.

I sought the author, who was pleased to give me permission to use his image.  He also asked me for a copy, which I gladly sent to him. Hamish was happily added to my collection of  `animal’ cards.
