About Lisa Empson – Contemporary Artist
About 10 years ago I was encouraged to share my art with others. Now it’s an added bonus when people like what I create. I’ve always dabbled in art, initially for myself; to relax and to give me pleasure. More recently I’ve enjoyed following the journey without much care for the destination. Rather than worry about painting a visual representation of what I see, I try to express what Nature’s Palette makes me feel. I take inspiration
from nature; walking in the countryside and beside the coast, particularly in Yorkshire and the North East. I’m in awe of the big, vibrantly abstract skies Mother Nature often presents us with. For me the joy of painting is “in the journey not the destination” and this is the focus I bring to my art. Every painting begins as an exercise painting purely for pleasure, following the journey the paint takes me on and being absorbed totally in the moment.
My eclectic tastes in art are reflected in my own work. I might feel like painting seascapes or landscapes, flora or fauna – or even more recently fairies for Christmas (inspired by Arthur Rackham). So be it. It’s my journey after all.
I hope you can take the time to browse through my website. Enjoy the ride.
