YORK PLACE GALLERY on Hartlepool’s Historic Headland has now closed
York Place Gallery was a small, independent gallery situated on Hartlepool’s historic headland, in a beautiful location overlooking the bay. For 4 years I opened my downstairs sitting room and garden room, (the gallery) to hold an exhibition of my work and the work of other local artists. On my first Exhibition Day I opened a Guest Book, where I asked visitors to make comments. The idea was inspired by the `Open Studios’ exhibitions I had attended, where people open their homes and studio galleries to the public, I felt it was a brave step, as I hadn’t done this before myself. I am so glad I did as their comments spurred me on to continue. I opened regularly on the first Sunday of every month, and other days if the sun was shining. I also ran workshops from the gallery, especially for the Wintertide Festival. Everyone who came to view left extremely good feedback. We had lots of fun and met some wonderful people over the years, but unfortunately cold winds on the Headland often meant that people wouldn’t venture out. The idea was a good one, but ultimately tailed off. The gallery is no longer open to the public as I have moved to Wetherby.Where To Find Us Now?
My work, and work of guest artists, can still be found on my website for www.yorkplacegallery.co.uk and its sister site www.localartandcrafts.co.uk. The www.yorkplacegallery.co.uk website will soon be changing to www.lisaempson.co.uk so if you can no longer find me then that’s where I’ll be. Of course, you can still always contact me by dropping me a line in the contact form or by telephone.
